The new airport in Karachay-Cherkessia may start receiving ships in 2029. This became known on July 30 at a meeting between Vladimir Putin and the head of the republic Rashid Temrezov. The President noted that this will have an impact on attracting tourists to the region. By the way, 4.5 times more of the total population of the republic came last year, said the head of the region. By 2030, local authorities plan to eliminate second shifts in schools — they have been actively building them recently.

What was discussed at the meeting

Over the past five years, almost 45 billion rubles have been spent in Karachay-Cherkessia on the construction of more than 800 social facilities: 190 km of roads, 56 cultural facilities, 64 schools and 52 healthcare facilities. Putin instructed Temrezov to work towards eliminating the second shift in schools. The head of the region promised to do this by 2030. The President also drew attention to the need to increase the number of places in kindergartens in the republic. "Social facilities require special attention. You mentioned schools, of course, there are many facilities and school buildings that need to be restored to their proper condition. Of course, we need to increase the number of places in kindergartens," Vladimir Putin said.

The republic currently has a surplus budget. It reached about 1.7 billion rubles — the authorities owe this success to the growth of their own incomes. This year, agriculture has been able to increase; last year, due to hail and drought, farmers sank in legumes, cereals, sugar beets, and oilseeds. Tourism also contributes to the development of the region. For example, the Arkhyz ski resort was visited by more than 2.3 million people last year. According to the head of state, this is 4.5 times more than the population of the republic. The construction of Arkhyz airport will contribute to even greater attractiveness. Flights are most likely to begin in 2029. "And the number of tourists will increase immediately," the president stressed.

Vladimir Putin noted the soldiers of the 34th separate motorized rifle brigade formed in Karachay-Cherkessia. Rashid Temrezov said that 70% of those mobilized in the KCR serve in the unit. In addition, the soldiers of the 34th brigade performed well in liberating the territories of the Kursk region from Ukrainian formations. "The guys are fighting well. In December, in my opinion, he signed a decree (on awarding the brigade the honorary name "Guards". — Ed.), the head of state recalled.
