The American company Speedtest collected data on the device of the Russian network, which can be used to plan attacks on domestic communication networks, the Center for Monitoring and Management of the Public Communications Network (CMU SSOP) told Izvestia on July 30.

"The American company collected data on the device of the Russian communications network, its scheme, node capacity, operability, including in terms of geography and time availability of regional network segments," the report says.

They stressed that the data collected by the American service can be used to plan, organize, conduct and evaluate the effectiveness of attacks on Russian communications networks and the systems of enterprises and organizations connected to them.

For deepfakes, it's not the creators who will suffer first, but the distributors.

Earlier that day, Roskomnadzor informed Izvestia about the restriction of access to the Internet speed test service Speedtest. Russians were advised to use trusted domestic analogues, including the "Sift" application. The Speedtest service, launched in 2006, allows you to check Internet speed and connection latency.
