A dangerous pest, Siberian larch tar, was found in export softwood lumber in the Khabarovsk Territory. The shipment was intended to be sent to Suifenhe (China). Siberian Larch tar (Pissodes insigmatus Boheman)it is quarantined for this importing country.
According to IA AmurMedia, with reference to the press service of the Primorsky Interregional Rosselkhoznadzor Administration, experts found the pest during an inspection of products at the Komsomolsky phytosanitary control post. Three batches of spruce lumber with a total volume of 300 cubic meters were examined.
The presence of the pest in a viable state was confirmed by laboratory tests of the Khabarovsk Territorial Department of the Far Eastern branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "VNIIKR".
The exporter decided to decontaminate the batch. After that, the company has the right to apply for a phytosanitary certificate.
The agency notes that tar can cause significant damage to trees and shrubs, especially young and weak ones. Insects gnaw out areas of the bark, as a result it dies off, secondary diseases such as fungal and bacterial infections develop.
In mid-July, it was reported that quarantine had been introduced in a greenhouse complex near the village of Chastostrovskoye in the Yemelyanovsky district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The reason is the fixation of dangerous insects, the Western flower thrips. Quarantine measures are also carried out on some land plots. In total, quarantine has been introduced on the territory of 90 hectares, the program for the localization of pest foci has been approved.
