Iron Maiden's first vocalist Paul Mario Day has died.

The first vocalist of the British heavy metal band Iron Maiden, Paul Mario Day, has died at the age of 69. This was reported on July 30 by the Daily Mail newspaper with reference to the statement of the More group, in which the artist was a member after leaving Iron Maiden.

"We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of the great vocalist More Paul Mario Day. <...> Paul was a huge part of [the new wave of British heavy metal] Since his time working on the early version of Iron Maiden. <...> We are honored to continue playing his music, and we will always think of him," the band said in a statement.

More noted that Day was a "beloved figure" in British rock music and played many concerts with other famous bands.

Paul Mario Day was the lead singer of the original Iron Maiden line-up from 1975 to 1976. After that, Day was replaced by Dennis Wilcock. After leaving the band, he performed in More, Wildfire, Defaced and Crimzon Lake.
