Moldovan President Maia Sandu gathered members of the country's Supreme Security Council on July 30 to hold a meeting and discuss foreign interference in the upcoming parliamentary elections in September.

"During the meeting, the members of the Security Council will discuss actions to combat information manipulation and foreign interference in the electoral process," the Moldovan president's website says.

At the end of the meeting, Sandu intends to hold a press conference at which the details of the meeting will be announced.

Former Moldovan President Igor Dodon told Izvestia on June 20 on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025) that the next few months will be key for the country due to the upcoming parliamentary elections. Dodon clarified that Western leaders seek to preserve Sandu's power, but for this they need control over parliament.

In turn, MP from the Social Party of Moldova Bogdan Cirda warned on July 1 that the country's authorities were making changes to key legislative acts in order to annul the outcome of the parliamentary elections in case of a loss. In this way, they want to concentrate power in the hands of the ruling PAS (Action and Solidarity Party).
