A tsunami warning has been issued in Chile after the earthquake in Kamchatka. This was announced on July 29 by the Biobiochile agency.
"The Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the United States Navy (SHOA) has published a bulletin with the estimated time of arrival of the tsunami at 41 points in Chile after an earthquake of magnitude 8.8 off the coast of Kamchatka, Russia," the publication says.
It is noted that Easter Island will be the first territory to be affected by the tsunami. This will happen at 9:25 a.m. Island time (18:25 a.m. Moscow time) on Wednesday, July 30.
On July 30, the Federal Research Center of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences (FITSGS RAS) reported that the magnitude of the strongest earthquake in Kamchatka since 1952, according to preliminary data, reached 8.7.
