At least 18 migrants died when a boat sank off the coast of Libya

At least 18 migrants were killed and 50 more were missing as a result of the sinking of a boat in eastern Libya. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on July 29.

"According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), ten survivors have been identified so far," the publication says.

It is noted that the boat crash occurred off the coast of the city of Tobruk near the border with Egypt.

In February, a boat carrying 21 people on board sank near Panama, 19 of whom were migrants from Venezuela and Colombia. The crash occurred due to strong waves caused by the worsening weather in the region.
