The management of the Nuremberg Zoo confirmed the killing of 12 baboons due to excess individuals. The aviary is designed for only 25 individuals. This was reported by the Bild newspaper on July 29.

"The zoo has confirmed the killing of 12 baboons and announced that it has "reduced the number of Guinea baboons by twelve individuals. The aviary is designed for only 25 animals, but recently the population has grown to more than 40," the publication says.

It is noted that the zoo was previously closed for "technical reasons." This prompted animal rights activists to take appropriate measures by staging a demonstration in front of him. Activists were sure that the zoo had closed due to the intention to hide from the public the fact of killing animals.

According to the newspaper, about 20 activists arrived at the gates of the zoo, they tried to move into the zoo. Some of them managed to do so, but most were detained by the zoo's security service.

It is added that earlier the zoo management had already reported on attempts to reduce the number of baboons by transferring them to other zoos, but such a measure was unsuccessful. In this regard, it was decided to kill some of the primates.

The Hurriyet newspaper reported on July 6 that a lion broke out of its cage in the Turkish city of Antalya and attacked a local resident. It is noted that the injured man was taken to the hospital for necessary medical care.
