The doctor named the reasons for postponing motherhood by women
The average age of birth of the first child in Russia has increased from 24 to 28 years over the past 15 years. This is due to the fact that more and more women are postponing motherhood for the sake of education and career growth. However, with age, fertility decreases, and the risk of complications during pregnancy increases. This was reported to Izvestia on July 30 by Vitaly Barkov, a reproductive specialist at the Fomin Clinic network.
According to him, in modern conditions there is a program of deferred motherhood, which offers egg freezing at a favorable reproductive age. This allows you to preserve their quality for future use. The procedure includes several stages: initial consultation, superovulation stimulation, egg puncture and cryopreservation. The best results are achieved when frozen for up to 35 years, when the quality of oocytes is the highest. At this age, it is recommended to freeze 10 to 15 eggs to increase the chances of having a healthy baby.
"Deferred motherhood is not a guarantee of pregnancy in the future. Egg freezing allows you to preserve your reproductive potential, but it does not exclude the possibility of other infertility factors later in life," Barkov said.
The program can also be used for medical conditions such as cancer or autoimmune diseases, which makes it possible to maintain a chance of motherhood after treatment.
On February 8, psychologist Stanislav Sambursky emphasized that young couples often experience fear of change, realizing that after the birth of a child, their lives will no longer be the same. They have new responsibilities and responsibilities for the baby. With the arrival of a child, parents face serious difficulties: the baby requires constant attention and care, which can cause them chronic stress and emotional exhaustion. These factors can lead to the development of anxiety disorder.
Before that, in December last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the issue of demography was one of the key issues not only for Russia, but also for many other countries. According to him, during the existence of the USSR, the birth rate was 2%, while now it has fallen to 1.41%. He noted the need to increase this indicator to 2.1%.
