Vandals destroyed part of the fortress "Thunder Gate" in Gelendzhik
In Gelendzhik, vandals painted and destroyed part of the local landmark, the Thunder Gate Fortress, located at an altitude of 740 m above sea level. This was reported on July 29 by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Krasnodar Territory.
Law enforcement officers found out about the incident during the monitoring of online publications. The act of vandalism against the monument was filmed by local residents, noting that two weeks ago everything was safe and sound.
"Unknown persons broke part of the masonry, and obscene drawings were applied to the surviving walls. This fact has been registered in the OMVD of Russia in the city of Gelendzhik," the department's Telegram channel says.
An investigation has been launched into the crime. There have been no official appeals to the police yet.
On July 22, it was reported that three young tourists were detained for desecrating the Obelisk of Glory in the village of Ordzhonikidze in Crimea. They turned out to be 18- and 19-year-old residents of Moscow, as well as a 17-year-old boy from Podolsk, who came on vacation. The press service of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that the violators confessed.
