British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is planning to present a plan for the recognition of Palestine this week. This was reported by The Times on July 28.

"Keir Starmer is under increasing pressure from his cabinet to speed up the process of recognizing a Palestinian state," the newspaper writes.

It clarifies that the UK probably will not follow the example of France and will not recognize the Palestinian state in September. Instead, the plan is expected to identify conditions and turning points that will allow recognition to be used as a tool to achieve peace between the parties.

Ministers and more than 130 MPs from the Labour Party who advocate recognition believe that this step is closer than last week and hope for its implementation this year.

On July 25, US President Donald Trump called French President Emmanuel Macron's statement on the recognition of Palestine irrelevant. At the same time, the American leader called Macron "a different type of person" and a "team player," noting that he likes him.

On July 24, the French leader announced his intention to recognize the State of Palestine. He noted that this will contribute to ending the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in the Gaza Strip, as well as rescue and comprehensive assistance to local residents.
