The burden of bells: why weddings in rural aesthetics have become a trend

Weddings in rural aesthetics turned out to be at the top among zoomers and millennials. They organize celebrations in dachas and old manors, invite harmonicists, sing ditties and lead round dances, and treat guests to tea from a samovar and bagels. The trend is supported in the decor, decorating the space with "granny" lace, and in a relaxed style of clothing. There are tall pines and wide expanses all around, bagels and tea from a samovar on the table, round dances on the dance floor, and ditties in the bust.

In mid-July 2025, the singer married Denis Glazin, head of the A&R (artist search and repertoire selection) music label S&P Digital. Unlike the usual big glossy star weddings, this celebration was held on a traditionally Russian scale. A group of fifty people went to celebrate at a country estate near Ryazan.

— When we met the guys and read their briefings, it became clear that we should look for a location as secluded as possible, filled with the atmosphere of Turgenevism and country estates of the past centuries. In the decor, we only emphasized and complemented the existing surroundings — a minimum of building, a maximum of nature, floristry, accents on set design, food design. They revealed the idea through an abundance of lace, which was searched all over Moscow and even bought some of it on a business trip to another country, Daria Skachkova, a PR specialist at the Feerique Event & Emotions wedding agency, which organized the celebration, told Izvestia.

Lace decorated the tree trunks, bread and apples were carefully wrapped in it, which became part of the design of the table. Daisies bloomed everywhere. The newlyweds wanted to escape from the urban space and enjoy the tranquility and unity with nature, where forest carelessness and poetic romanticism would be combined.

— We were looking for a state of "cozy wilderness". I wanted to create the feeling that you found yourself in a fairy tale, but without the gloss — with living fabrics, wildflowers, without communication and the Internet. It was important for us to maintain a sense of youth, purity and maximum sincerity. This mood determined everything from dresses to campfire songs," Alice told Izvestia. — I played my first DJ set, my husband and I danced to the music of James Blake and Rosalia, and my dad and I danced to Vizbor. Guests were treated to tea from a samovar with bagels, had dinner at a long table with sausages and mashed potatoes among wildflowers, sang ditties, and at night — songs around the campfire. The guests supported the concept as much as possible. They were all incredibly beautiful, but at the same time there was some kind of simplicity and naturalness in the images. At the end of the evening, everyone was already in crocs, and my husband and I changed into country clothes.

"A request for simplicity and detachment from luxury"

Cozy country weddings in rural aesthetics, say event industry experts, are one of the trends, although, however, it is not new.

— I am sure that any decor studio now, regardless of its scale, has at least two or three such requests. We have already completed one project in the field home style this year. Now we are preparing to implement another one. And a client came to us for September, who also has a request for a country aesthetic with a warm, cozy and simple atmosphere. Country aesthetics is not only a trend, but also a kind of philosophy associated with the desire for simplicity and harmony with nature. Moreover, this format is of the greatest interest not to the older generation, but to zoomers and millennials. It is associated with the need for digital detox, an interest in the national cultural code and roots, personal memories and a trend towards nostalgia.

— These trends dictate the popularity of this aesthetic. Due to the fact that they are now at their peak, there is a demand for simplicity, country style and detachment from everything associated with wealth and luxury," explained Yulia Shtyl'kova. — If we talk specifically about the details, then this is an open-air playground or a veranda, necessarily warm chamber lighting, natural textiles, for example, lace fabrics, a mix of furniture, field garden floristry, it is possible to use fruits and vegetables in the decoration.

Wildflowers can become an alternative to the classic wedding bouquet, notes, in turn, Yulia Shtylkova's colleague, Anna Azarova, co—founder of the studio.

— For example, from daisies, bluebells or cornflowers. You can dilute the floral composition with mint or oregano. Also, with a rustic wedding style, a bouquet of ears of corn, such as rye, wheat or oats, will look great. You can add ribbons made of natural fabrics, dried flowers or herbs to it. This bouquet will be perfectly combined with dresses made of linen and cotton lace. Also, the image of the bride can be complemented with a herbal wreath on her head or on her arm made of wild herbs, mint, daisies. If a rustic wedding is planned in the fall, then the seasonality will be emphasized by sprigs of viburnum, rowan or raspberry," she told Izvestia.

From a financial point of view, when contacting professionals who will take over the organization, a "rural" wedding will not be cheaper — the work front is about the same, experts say.
