A man drowned while swimming in an artificial pond in Blagoveshchensk.

In the Blagoveshchensk municipal district of the Amur region, a young man drowned while swimming in an artificial pond. This is reported by the regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.

The tragedy occurred on Sunday, July 27, in the area of the new bridge over the Zeya River. A man born in 1996 drowned in an artificial pond not equipped for swimming.

The circumstances of the man's death are being established, PriamurMedia news agency clarifies.

On July 25, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations told Izvestia that 867 people, including 146 children, had died in Russian reservoirs since the beginning of summer 2025. The main cause of death is swimming in unequipped places.
