The number of DDoS attacks on Russian companies in the second quarter of 2025 increased by 42% compared to the same period last year, the cybersecurity company Stormwall told Izvestia. Most of the attacks were directed at the financial sector, the public sector and telecom.

The number of DDoS attacks on financial institutions accounted for 28% of the total number of attacks, which indicates the growing interest of attackers in this industry. The share of attacks on government organizations was 21% of the total number of attacks. The public sector has suffered not only from the actions of ordinary hackers, but also from incidents organized by politically motivated hackers.

Attacks on telecom accounted for 16% of the total number of attacks. This industry has been one of the main targets of intruders for the second year now. Another 14% of attacks were directed at the retail industry in order to obtain commercial benefits. There was also a significant proportion of attacks on the entertainment sector (9% of the total number of incidents). Attacks on the educational sphere amounted to 7% due to the USE and the start of the admission campaign at universities.
