- Bloomberg has learned about the resignation of Romania's deputy prime minister due to a fraud case
Romanian Deputy Prime Minister Dragos Anastasiu, who is responsible for government reforms, has resigned from his post due to his involvement in a closed investigation into tax fraud against his companies. This was reported by Bloomberg on July 27.
"My departure from the government does not mean that the reforms will stop, and I know that the prime Minister is determined to continue them," the newspaper quoted Anastasiu as saying at a press conference in Bucharest.
Romania's deputy prime minister has announced that he is resigning to avoid a scandal that could damage the government created just a month ago.
"The reforms must continue, because this is the only way for Romania to move forward," the official concluded.
On May 27, Romanian presidential candidate George Simion, who lost the election, declared the need for deep political changes in the state. According to him, the country is led by "puppets" who are mired in corruption and are not even ready for public speaking.
