According to Sergei Dobrovolsky, the head of the Young Guard of United Russia in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), there has been constant shelling of civilians in the region since 2014, which made it impossible to hold such events en masse.

In turn, the Commissioner for Children's Rights in the republic, Svetlana Malakhai, noted that there are many places in Donetsk where citizens honor the memory of dead children.

"The place where we are now, this place was created in memory of the children by the residents of the Kuibyshev district themselves. <...> 282 innocently murdered souls, about 50 of whom did not even go to school. We remember everyone by name," she stressed.

The Alley of memory of the dead children of Donbass in the Kuibyshev district of Donetsk appeared last year. Valentina Kvochka-Sergushkina, the creator of the alley, said on July 27, 2024, that she names each planted flower after one of the victims.
