Sappers of the 42nd Guards Division of the Dnepr group of forces are carrying out mine clearance tasks in residential areas to ensure the safety of civilians in the Zaporizhia region in the area of a special military operation. This was announced on July 27 by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

"During the mine clearance work, sappers discover a significant number of dangerous objects, including in residential areas where civilians live. Mines and other explosive objects pose a serious threat to the life and health of civilians," the ministry said.

It is noted that formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) often strike at specialists carrying out mine clearance work. Sappers are often attacked using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and artillery.

"The enemy is retreating from here, we are ruthlessly knocking him out, and he is trying to mine everything so that people here cannot live, work, or engage in their peaceful lives. They mine everything mercilessly, so we come and help civilians clear everything so that people can continue to live and enjoy life," said the deputy commander of an engineering platoon with the call sign Demob.

It is specified that the specialists perform their tasks in the Orekhovsky area of the SVO zone.

On July 10, sappers of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the Kursk region showed camouflaged mines of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In addition to those manufactured in Ukraine, sappers also find many explosive devices manufactured by NATO countries. According to Bogdan Mironov, deputy commander of the mine clearance unit of the International Mine Action Center of the Military Engineering Academy, about 90% of all detected ammunition was produced in NATO countries.
