- The BBC reported on the closure of a bridge in Scotland after a protest by eco-activists
In Scotland, the Forth Road bridge was blocked after a protest by activists of the environmental organization Greenpeace (deemed undesirable in the territory of the Russian Federation) against the tanker Ineos Independence, which transports shale gas for plastic production. This was announced on July 26 by the BBC television channel.
"The Fort Road Bridge was closed after protesting environmentalists began climbing down a rope from the curb in a demonstration against a tanker carrying shale gas," the TV channel noted.
According to the BBC, 10 people who were suspended at a height of 25 m above the Firth of Forth, one of the main shipping lanes where the tanker passed, were arrested.
Eco-activists opposed the international agreement on plastic production, which will be held in Switzerland from 5 to 14 August.
Earlier, on May 25, it was reported that the French police detained 173 people during the actions of supporters of the eco-movement in Paris at the headquarters of Amundi, which is on the list of shareholders of the oil and gas company TotalEnergies. Climate activists tried to disrupt the annual meeting of TotalEnergies.
Greenpeace members unfurled a huge banner with the inscription "Wanted," and Patrick Pouyanne, executive director of TotalEnergies, was also called "the head of France's most polluting company."
