Russians won 16 medals at the Universiade in Germany

Russian athletes have won 16 medals at the World Summer Universiade in Germany. On Saturday, July 26, the Russian rowers were unable to reach the finals of the competition, where they could have won the final medals.

The national team has won six gold, six silver and four bronze medals. The most medals were won by swimmer Alexander Stepanov, who won two gold medals in the 800 and 1,500 m freestyle and silver in the 4×200 m relay.

Nikolay Kolesnikov also won two medals: gold in the 400 m freestyle and silver in the 200 m. The relay team of Russian swimmers also won silver.

In addition, the champions of the Universiade were skewer skewer Dmitry Shvelidze, tennis player Vladimir Sidorenko, as well as tennis doubles duo Egor Agafonov and Ilya Simakin.

Tennis player Alevtina Ibragimova, judoka Abrek Naguchev and Armen Agayan, and table tennis player Maxim Grebnev won silver medals. The bronze medal went to Kirill Gurov, skewer skier, Alexander Shchegolev (100 m freestyle), judoka Valery Endovitsky and tennis pair Alevtina Ibragimova — Ksenia Zaitseva.

On the same day, it was reported that Russian judoka Adam Tsechoev won bronze at the Grand Slam tournament in the weight category up to 81 kg. Tsechoev defeated former Russian judoka Gadzhidavud Hasanov, who represented the national team of Bahrain.
