Moscow schoolchildren won three medals at the International Biology Olympiad
Moscow schoolchildren have won gold, silver and bronze medals at the International Biology Olympiad in the Philippines. This was announced on July 26 by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.
According to him, Vera Krasnoperova from school No. 57 won a gold medal, her classmate Zakhar Degterenko won a silver medal, and Alikhan Zhangaziev from the school of the Center for Pedagogical Excellence won a bronze medal.
"They have completed theoretical and practical tours covering the most difficult sections, from molecular biology to biosystematics," Sobyanin said in his Telegram channel.
Schoolchildren from almost 80 countries participated in the Olympiad. The Russian team was trained at the Biology Faculty of Moscow State University.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that Moscow schoolchildren won the International Olympiad in Linguistics, which was held in Taipei, Taiwan. It was specified that the Olympiad was held from July 21 to July 26. Moscow schoolchildren managed to win four medals there. So, student Ekaterina Churkina from school No. 179 took the first place, Daria Kukshinova and Mikhail Nikitin from the Center for Pedagogical Excellence took the second, and Elizaveta Dyatlova from the Letovo School took the third.
