Russian schoolchildren named difficult tasks at the International Physics Olympiad
Russian schoolchildren who won medals at the 55th International Olympiad in Physics in France told Izvestia on July 26 that the tasks within the framework were quite difficult.
"The most difficult task was about [James'] watch Coke. This task is not very suitable for the MO format, so it was solved very poorly by all the participants of the Olympiad, but I think we showed one of the best results in this task. There were three parts: two of them were preparatory, they cost a very small number of points, and the longest and most difficult was such that you had to invent everything, study the whole system without any hints <... > Of course, we are happy about the victory," said participant Ivan Lukin.
According to the participant, the students liked the organization of the event in Paris, where there was a good-natured environment and many Russian-speaking people who were happy to communicate with the medalists. At the same time, one of the students, Egor Krivoshchenkov, said that the main thing in such Olympiads is communication between countries, as well as knowledge of each other's culture and interaction.
"I am very glad that there is a decent education in Russia that helps us even with such difficult tasks as the Physics Department. We have made friends from many countries, because after all, the main thing at MO is communication between countries," he said.
In addition, gold medalist Grigory Grechkin clarified that schoolchildren prepare a lot for such competitions in order to bring Russia many victories in international Olympiads.
On July 24, Russian schoolchildren won three gold and two silver medals at the 55th International Physics Olympiad in Paris. Gold medals were awarded to Grigory Grechkin (school of the Center for Pedagogical Excellence), Mikhail Aronov and Ivan Lukin (P.L. Kapitsa Phystech Lyceum). Silver medals went to Egor Krivoshchekov (Lyceum No. 124), Pavel Rukovchuk (P.L. Kapitsa Phystech Lyceum).
