A participant in a rally in France killed three spectators.
Three people died in an accident during the Fourmes-d'Ambert rally in the French department of Puy-de-Dom. This was reported by the Montagne newspaper on Saturday, July 26.
"Two spectators died this Saturday, July 26, as a result of being hit by a car that left the road. One person was seriously injured," the article says.
Later it became known that the injured man died. It is also noted that the driver of the racing car and the navigator were hospitalized.
It is specified that part of the public was in the area marked with a red ribbon, that is, in a forbidden place. The prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into the incident. About 60 rescuers and police officers are working at the scene.
The race was suspended, and the prefect of the department asked the spectators to disperse and not use the track. A psychological assistance center was opened in Saint-Just.
