The Lithuanian authorities intend to allocate about €30 million for the purchase of American Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems for Ukraine. This was announced on Saturday, July 26, by the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Dovile Shakalene.
"Lithuania has announced its position that it will join the purchase of weapons manufactured in the United States, specifically the acquisition of Patriot complexes, allocating about €30 million for this," Shakalene said, quoted by the BNS news agency.
The head of the country's Defense Ministry stressed that this decision was made after a meeting with United States Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and her colleagues from the Baltic States.
She noted that in this way Vilnius demonstrates strategic support for the course of American President Donald Trump on the supply of weapons to Kiev, complements "Газета.Ru ".
Earlier, on July 14, Trump said that the United States and the European Union had reached an agreement on the supply of weapons to Ukraine. According to him, the United States will produce weapons for Kiev, and European countries will pay for them. The American leader noted that Washington is considering the possibility of transferring 17 Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine.
