A pensioner from Moscow gave more than 63.7 million rubles to fraudsters.
A pensioner from Moscow gave over 63.7 million rubles to telephone fraudsters. So, in the hands of the attackers were $ 200 thousand, € 20 thousand, 4 million rubles and 5 kg of gold. The metropolitan prosecutor's office told about it on July 26.
"An unknown person called the pensioner, introduced himself as a service employee and said that the intercom would be replaced in the house where she lives. Under this pretext, the attacker persuaded her to tell him the code received in the SMS, allegedly to obtain new keys," the department's Telegram channel says.
It is noted that after a while, an alleged employee of Roskomnadzor called the woman, reported the theft of personal data and persuaded her to follow the instructions on the phone to save her savings.
In five days of communication with the scammers, the pensioner gave away her savings, calling the code word. The Prosecutor's Office is monitoring the circumstances of the theft.
Earlier, on July 17, it was reported that fraud with pensioners' money would become an aggravating circumstance. A corresponding bill with amendments to the Criminal Code has been prepared for submission to the State Duma by deputies of the LDPR faction led by Leonid Slutsky. According to the Russian Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, in 2024, approximately 20% of Russian citizens who were victims of fraud were people over the age of 60.
