Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Qiang proposed the creation of an international organization for cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). This was reported by the Reuters news agency on July 26.

"Li Qiang on Saturday proposed the creation of an organization to promote global cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence, calling on countries to coordinate on the development and security of rapidly developing technologies," the publication says.

It is noted that the initiative was voiced during the Prime Minister's speech at the opening of the annual World Conference on Artificial Intelligence (WAIC) in Shanghai.

According to the official, AI is a "new engine of growth," however, technology management is currently fragmented, which underscores the need for greater coordination between countries in order to form a "globally recognized" AI structure.

"We should strengthen coordination to form a global AI management system based on broad consensus as soon as possible," Li Qiang urged.

The Guardian newspaper reported on July 24 that US President Donald Trump signed three decrees aimed at developing AI technologies. The American leader promised that these documents would turn the United States into an "artificial intelligence export center."
