The Ministry of Defense showed footage of the destruction of the Ukrainian Armed Forces dugout with a mortar

Military personnel of the 2S23 Nona-SVK self-propelled mortar crew of the mountain motorized rifle unit of the Center group of forces struck a firing position of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Red Army area of the special military operation zone. This was announced on July 26 by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

"Having aimed the combat vehicle at the target, the servicemen fired a series of shots with 120-mm high-explosive fragmentation shells from a closed firing position, destroying the dugout along with the firing point and enemy personnel deep in the fortified area," the ministry said.

It is specified that the soldiers received the coordinates for the strike from the operators of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). After receiving confirmation of the destruction of the target, the servicemen performed an anti-fire maneuver and promptly changed their position.

"We are given coordinates. We move to the specified location, <...> [then] they give us targets for which we must work out," said the gunner of the combat vehicle, Ayan-ool Kuular.

The Nona-SVK self-propelled mortar is capable of firing any type of mines for smoothbore and rifled mortars. In particular, military personnel have the opportunity to use lighting, smoke and active-rocket ammunition. Thanks to the real-time adjustment of fire, fighters can fire with the consumption of a minimum number of shells, the Ministry of Defense added.

"Birds (drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. — Ed.) There are a lot of "birds" flying. We'll hide the car and stand there and immediately shoot [at them]," said Azis Sagaachi, the mortar's mechanical driver.
