On Friday and next weekend, July 25-27, traffic police officers will conduct massive and continuous checks on the roads of the country, special attention will be paid to the search for drunk drivers. The raids were announced by the regional departments of the State Traffic Inspectorate.

Raids on drunk motorists will take place in Moscow and the Moscow region, as well as in Kirov, Ivanovo, Ulyanovsk, Vologda, Smolensk and other regions.

On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate reminds motorists about the inadmissibility of driving while intoxicated. "Continuous" roadside checks to identify drunk drivers are carried out on weekends by traffic police on an ongoing basis, the department noted.

"We urge citizens who have seen that a drunk person gets behind the wheel, behaves inappropriately, creates dangerous situations on the road and thereby threatens the safety of other road users, to report these facts to the police. Employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate will definitely take all necessary measures to respond to such reports," Police Colonel Anton Belan, deputy head of the propaganda department of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry, told Izvestia.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that the item that provides for improving the mechanisms for determining the admission of drivers over the age of 60 to participate in traffic was excluded from the draft "Strategy for improving Road Safety."
