- The IAC completed the investigation of the SSJ-100 crash in the Moscow region in 2024
The Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) has completed an investigation into the crash of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 in the Moscow region in July last year. This was reported on the IAC website on July 25.
As indicated in the report, the incident was caused by the incorrect installation of angle-of-attack sensors on the left and right sides of the aircraft. It was found that they were mixed up during maintenance and showed unreliable data.
"The unreliable readings of the angles of attack of the aircraft were the result of mixing up the pads of the sensors of the angles of attack of the left and right sides of the aircraft during their dismantling/installation as a result of violation of the requirements of the RRJ-95 technical operation manual during aircraft maintenance at an aircraft repair facility," the report says.
PJSC Yakovlev, at whose plant the Superjet was serviced before departure, was recommended to strictly comply with the requirements of the technical operation manual for replacing angle of attack sensors.
The plane crash occurred in July last year in the village of Apraksino, Kolomenskoye district, Moscow region. There were no passengers on board the aircraft, there were three crew members, all of them died. The airliner belonged to Gazprom Avia and was launched in 2014. Both black boxes were found at the crash site.
