Martial law has been imposed in eight districts of Thailand on the border with Cambodia. This was reported on July 25 by the MGR online portal with reference to the border defense command.

"The Chantaburi and Trat Border Defense Command has announced the imposition of martial law in some areas of Chantaburi Province, including Mueang Chantaburi, Tha Mai, Makham, Laem Sing, Keng Hang Meo, Na Yai Am, Trat and Khao Khitchakut districts," the publication says.

It is noted that martial law is being introduced to preserve the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the lives and property of Thai residents.

The Reuters news agency reported earlier in the day that the escalation of the conflict between Thailand and Cambodia could lead to the outbreak of war. New clashes between Thailand and Cambodia were also reported. As a result of the mutual attacks, 15 people were killed.

On July 24, an armed clash took place on the disputed border between Thailand and Cambodia. It is noted that the military of both sides accused each other of firing the first shots.
