Nabiullina predicted a possible reduction in the key rate in the future
The key rate forecast suggests a possible reduction at the remaining meetings in 2025. This was announced on July 25 by the head of the Central Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina.
"If you look at our forecast of the key rate, it suggests that by the end of the year, a reduction of 100, 150, and 200 basis points is possible at individual meetings. As well as pauses," she noted.
According to her, everything will depend on the incoming data.
Nabiullina stressed that a uniform downward trajectory can be achieved with a more convincing picture of stabilization of inflation and low inflation expectations, as well as the absence of new inflationary shocks.
Earlier in the day, the Central Bank lowered its key rate to 18%. It was clarified that further decisions on the key rate will be made depending on the sustainability of the slowdown in inflation and the dynamics of inflation expectations.
Economist Alexey Rodin, in an interview with Izvestia, emphasized the further development of the Russian economy due to the reduction in the cost of loans. The expert called the increase in the availability of loans for ordinary citizens another positive aspect of reducing the key interest rate.
