The plenary discussion "Art, science and technology: mutual inspiration?"
As part of the open day of the International Conference on Quantum Technologies ICQT 2025, a satellite event of the Forum of Future Technologies, a plenary discussion "Art, Science and technology: mutual inspiration?" was held. The discussion revolved around the relationship between science, art and new technologies, as well as how inspiration and creativity affect the development of society and culture. The discussion's Sammari was prepared using artificial intelligence technology from the conference's partner, the Roscongress Foundation.
The key idea of the discussion was the understanding that art and science do not exist in isolation from each other. Today, art is increasingly integrating new technologies, including quantum technologies and artificial intelligence. This happens both at the level of technical tools used by artists (3D printers, virtual reality, neural networks) and at the level of ideological inspiration, when the very understanding of science becomes a source of creative ideas.
Much attention was paid to the ethical and philosophical issues of using new technologies. The opinion was expressed that humanity should not only explore new opportunities, but also develop clear ethical guidelines for their application. Technologies, including artificial intelligence and quantum developments, should serve the public good, although the success of innovations is inevitably linked to their commercial implementation.
Ekaterina Solntseva, Director of Quantum Technologies at Rosatom State Corporation, noted the relevance of the practical application of quantum innovations and the need for staffing the quantum industry, training young scientists and engineers.
According to the participants of the discussion, the development of quantum technologies and artificial intelligence is inevitable and opens up broad prospects for humanity. Despite the uncertainty associated with the specific forms of these technologies, it is obvious that their gradual introduction will lead to an improvement in the quality of life and the creation of new cultural and scientific paradigms. The participants agreed that, like electricity, quantum technologies will gradually enter everyday life and become an inconspicuous but necessary part of it.
They also discussed the role of art in shaping the image of science and technology in society and the importance of active work to popularize and explain their capabilities in an accessible way.
The Future Technologies Forum is a flagship event where leading researchers and industry leaders present high–tech technologies, innovative scientific developments and implemented projects that determine the vector of economic development in the coming years. The Forum is held in Moscow annually with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation, the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian Science Foundation and the Russian Quantum Center. The Forum is co-organized by Gazprombank, the Moscow Government, and the Rosatom State Corporation. The operator of the Forum is the Roscongress Foundation.
In 2023, the FBT was dedicated to quantum technologies, in 2024 it was focused on the future of medicine. In 2025, the Forum is dedicated to new materials and chemistry. In accordance with the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, in 2026 the Forum of Future Technologies will be devoted to the formation of bioeconomics in the Russian Federation and the application of biotechnologies in economic sectors. Detailed information about the events of the Future Technologies Forum is available on the website: future–forum.tech
