Political scientist Ekaterina Shulman (recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent) was arrested in absentia for two months in a case of evading the duties of foreign agents. This was announced on July 25 in the press service of the courts of general jurisdiction of Moscow.

"A preventive measure has been chosen in the form of detention in respect of Ekaterina Mikhailovna Shulman <...> from the moment of her detention on the territory of the Russian Federation," the department's Telegram channel says.

Shumalin is accused of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 330.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Evading duties provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation on foreign agents").

In March, the Russian Interior Ministry put Shulman on the wanted list in a criminal case. In 2022, she was added to the list of foreign agents by decision of the Ministry of Justice. The reason was her anti-Russian position.
