- The political scientist called the reason for Trump's accusation of Obama in the "Rashagate" hoax
US President Donald Trump has accused the 44th American leader, Barack Obama, of political fraud and creating the "Rashagate" scandal about alleged Russian interference in the American elections due to dissatisfaction with unresolved problems of United States policy. This was stated on July 25 by American political scientist Garland Nixon in an interview with Izvestia.
"You know, I really believe that Trump at some point intended to deal with what is called a hoax or a conspiracy of "Rashagate." From the very beginning, I called it an intelligence operation. It was neither a hoax nor a conspiracy," he said.
According to the political scientist, the scandal was a well-planned large-scale operation. The organization involved the US intelligence services, as well as "their puppets in the media and the political sphere."
As Nixon noted, the American leader is currently "cornered" by a number of political failures, such as the lack of progress on resolving the conflict in Ukraine. Also, the decision to release materials about the scandal may be motivated by Trump's anger over the failure to release a list of documents in the case of American financier Jeffrey Epstein.
"In addition, the fact is that all the levers of power in the United States were involved in Operation Rashagate. If you dig too deep into this operation, it will reveal the connections between the intelligence community, politicians and the media. This is such a web of lies and criminality that delving into it will clearly and openly show that the US government is acting as a fraudulent imperial power," the expert said.
At the same time, he pointed out that in the United States, the decisions of the Supreme Court made against Trump limit the ability of law enforcement agencies to prosecute former or current heads of state for their crimes. So this could apply to Obama as well.
"There is an unspoken policy: the US government never prosecutes former presidents for illegal actions. If you study the history of the United States government, you will see that every president of the United States is a criminal. Each of them constantly violates international law, US laws, and constitutional law," Nixon said.
The political scientist expressed the opinion that if Trump decides to release data on the activities of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) during the "Rashagate", then information about the violation of the law by the agency will make its continued existence impossible due to complete discrediting.
"I will say this, the evidence that will appear, whatever it may be, and the information that will be made public, may influence the opinion of the American people," the expert added.
On July 20, Trump accused Obama of fraud in the 2016 presidential election. According to the data released by the Director of National Intelligence of the United States Tulsi Gabbard, the Obama administration concealed intelligence information that Russia then "had no intention or ability" to hack the electronic electoral system.
On the same day, Glenn Deesen, a professor at the University of Southeastern Norway, called the "Rashagate" in the United States the reason for the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine. The expert also called for bringing to justice all those responsible for inciting hostility.
