- Bloomberg reported on Trump's signing of a decree on combating the homeless and criminals
US President Donald Trump intends to sign a decree that will be aimed at combating the homeless and criminals on the streets. This was reported by Bloomberg on July 24, citing White House press Secretary Caroline Leavitt.
"Trump plans to sign an executive order on Thursday that, according to the White House, will encourage city and state efforts to move homeless people off the streets to treatment centers," the agency noted.
According to Bloomberg, the relocation of homeless people to hospitals will benefit both the vagrants themselves and the residents of the United States.
"By removing vagrant criminals from our streets and redirecting resources to substance abuse programs, the Trump administration is ensuring that Americans feel safe in their own communities and that people suffering from addiction or mental health problems can receive the help they need," Leavitt said.
It is also emphasized that the White House will provide grants to states that monitor violations of laws, such as sexual violence, illegal drug use, and urban campgrounds.
Earlier, on March 26, Trump considered sending homeless people to compulsory mental and drug addiction treatment instead of providing such citizens with social housing. Trump also called for the opening of new medical institutions in the country, "where homeless people could be resettled and their problems identified."
