President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky must prove to the West that he is fighting corruption in the country, otherwise Kiev may lose the support of the allied countries. This statement was made by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski on the air of the Polsat channel on Thursday, July 24.

"I think Zelensky knows that he has to convince both his people and the European Union that he is seriously fighting corruption," he stressed.

According to Sikorski, the Ukrainian leader has already been warned more than once by various EU states that the flourishing corruption in the country is an obstacle to providing financial support.

"We conveyed to him and his people through various channels — European, national — that the fastest way to lose Western support is to allow corruption to revive," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Earlier, on July 23, the law on limiting the powers of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) came into force in Ukraine. A day earlier, mass protests had begun in connection with its adoption.

Already on July 24, more than 9,000 people in Kiev held large-scale rallies against the persecution of anti-corruption services. At that time, the protesters declared their readiness to take to the streets every day if their demands to the authorities were not taken into account. Actions were also held in other cities of Ukraine.
