The oceanographer spoke about the possibility of sharks appearing in the Baltic
Anatoly Tavrichesky, a member of the Russian Geographical Society (RGS), an oceanographer, estimated the likelihood of sharks appearing in the Gulf of Finland after dolphins were captured on video in the Zelenogorsk area (municipality of the Kurortny district of St. Petersburg).
In conversation with aif.ru On Thursday, July 24, an expert noted that sharks in the Baltic are problematic. At the same time, the scientist admitted that other species of marine animals may appear, which usually live further north.
He also noted that this also applies to fish, assuming that it was the fish that first entered the Gulf of Finland, followed by dolphins, which were spotted near Zelenogorsk. Tavrichesky noted that the improvement of the environmental situation could also have an impact.
On July 22, Candidate of Biological Sciences, diving instructor Mikhail Safonov told what kind of sharks can be found in domestic waters. According to him, NSN notes, sharks are found in almost all Russian seas, except the Baltic, Azov and Caspian, and dangerous ones can be found in the Sea of Japan in the Far East.
On June 26, Japanese mako sharks, also called cannibals, were discovered off the coast of Primorsky Krai. As he writes 360.ru sharks usually appear in the Ussuriysky Bay in the middle of August. They could appear ahead of time due to the abnormal heat, which allowed the water to warm up.
