- An AN-24 passenger who got off at Blagoveshchensk reported that there was no briefing
The crew of the AN-24 passenger plane that crashed in the Amur region did not conduct a full safety briefing before the flight. This was reported to Izvestia on July 24 by one of the passengers who got off in Blagoveshchensk, Angelina Semenova.
"The flight attendant just told me to fasten my seat belts and that's it. She told me where the emergency exits were. They didn't tell us anything about safety, oxygen masks, that's all," the girl explained.
She clarified that she was flying with four friends and acquaintances. According to Semenova, the sight of the aircraft immediately alarmed her and her companions. The passenger noted that they had never seen such old planes, so they were scared.
In addition, the girl noted that the pilots did not introduce themselves, and the information from the loudspeaker sounded illegible.
"It was very noisy on the plane, it rattled very much. When your feet were on the floor, there was such a vibration that you couldn't feel your feet during the flight," she explained.
Semenova added that heavy fog and thick clouds were observed while descending overboard. Steam rose from the cracks of the portholes, floor and ceiling before landing, but there was no burning smell. According to her, the flight attendant convinced the passengers that it was condensation, although there was no air conditioning or ventilation on the plane. In addition, the passenger stressed that the asphalt was wet after landing, but after the rain stopped and the weather improved.
The AN-24 passenger plane crashed 15 km from Tynda in the Amur region on the morning of July 24. The aircraft was en route Khabarovsk — Blagoveshchensk — Tynda and stopped communicating. All passengers and crew members were killed.
A criminal case has been opened into the loss of communication with the aircraft. Possible versions of the crash may be a technical malfunction and a human factor.
On the same day, it became known that the crashed plane had been involved in four aviation incidents since 2018. Izvestia also reported that the aviation authorities had maintenance claims against Angara Airlines, which owns the crashed plane. Investigators are working in the company's office.
