In Moscow, 100 people died in road accidents in the first half of 2025. This is 32% less than in the first six months of 2024, when 147 people died in road accidents. The Metropolitan Department of Transport announced this on July 24 in its Telegram channel.

During the reporting period, the number of traffic accidents decreased by 7%. In 2024, 3,981 accidents occurred in January—June, and in 2025, 3,715 accidents occurred during the same period.

There is a decrease in accident rates for several key types of accidents. Thus, there were 47% fewer deaths in collisions with parked cars, 46% fewer deaths in collisions, and 23% fewer deaths in pedestrian collisions. Also, three times fewer minors under the age of 18 died this year.

As Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport, pointed out, the reduction in accidents and deaths is, among other things, the merit of photo-video recording systems using neural networks that allow detecting traffic violations and preventing accidents.

Earlier that day, it was reported that the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate would conduct a three-day enhanced raid on the territory of the capital to check drivers for intoxication. The preventive event will take place from July 25 to July 27.
