A criminal case was opened in Buryatia due to norovirus in a children's camp

A criminal case was initiated after the illness of children in a private sanatorium and recreation camp in the Republic of Buryatia. This was reported on July 24 in the Telegram channel of the regional directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

"Since July 22, 2025, several children of different age groups who were vacationing at a children's sanatorium and recreation camp located on the shore of Lake Shchuchye in the Selenginsky district of the Republic of Buryatia have been diagnosed with symptoms of norovirus infection," the publication says.

It is specified that the work of the camp has been suspended, the children receive medical care on an outpatient basis. At the moment, the causes, extent and source of infection of children with norovirus are being investigated. A criminal case has been opened on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of consumers")

On July 20, Rospotrebnadzor reported that no imported cases of chikungunya fever had been recorded in Russia. In Russia, according to Rospotrebnadzor, there are no conditions for the formation of a local circulation of the pathogen among mosquitoes. Rospotrebnadzor recommends that travelers to endemic regions use repellents, closed clothing and mosquito nets.
