A criminal case on the fact of spreading false information about the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation against Pussy Riot members Alina Petrova, Diana Burkot, Olga Borisova, Taso Pletner and Maria Alyokhina has been sent to court. This was announced on July 24 by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.

"They are charged in absentia under clauses "b" and "d" of Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Public dissemination, under the guise of reliable reports, of deliberately false information containing data on the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in order to protect the interests of the Russian Federation and its citizens, maintain international peace and security, and for political reasons hatred")," follows from the publication on the website.

It is clarified that in December 2022, Alyokhina, Borisova, Burkot and Pletner published a video clip for a song on one of the video hosting sites, which contained false information about the actions of the Russian army during a special military operation (SVO). According to the agency, these materials were also posted on other resources.

In addition, in April 2024, Alyokhina, Pletner and Petrova, during a protest at a museum in Munich, voiced slogans that contained false information about the destruction of civilian infrastructure in Mariupol by the military of the Russian Armed Forces.

According to the press service of the department, the band members were put on the international wanted list, and the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention in absentia.

Earlier, on July 1, the Presnensky Court of Moscow received a criminal case against opera singer Maria Maksakova (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation) for consideration in absentia. It was clarified that the case against the actress was initiated under Article 280.4 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Public calls for activities directed against the security of the state").

The singer left Russia in May 2022, and a year later the Ministry of Justice recognized her as a foreign agent for calling for the overthrow of the current Russian government and advocating the transfer of weapons to Ukraine.
