Over the past day, 299 accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 37 people were killed and 365 injured. 32 of the dead were passengers and drivers. This was reported to Izvestia on July 24 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

17 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which two people were killed, and 21 more road users, including one child, needed medical attention. 11 bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles.

As a result of 63 accidents, 24 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 39 outside their area of operation, five pedestrians were killed, and 59 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 18 child pedestrians, 12 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway outside the designated areas.

59 accidents involving minors were registered, in which 67 young road users were injured, including 24 passengers, eight cyclists and 16 motor transport drivers. Two underage drivers were killed, one of whom was driving a car, the other a motorcycle.

So, in the Voronezh Region, on 3 km of the Voronezh Bypass highway, a 14-year-old schoolboy, unable to control a cross-country motorcycle, drove off the road and crashed into a lighting pole. The young motorcyclist died. The teenager had not previously been issued a driver's license, and he rode a motorcycle that belonged to his father and was a sports equipment without a helmet.

In the Novosibirsk region, on a regional highway, a 15-year-old car driver drove into the oncoming lane, where he collided with another car driven by a 36-year-old man. As a result of the accident, the teenage driver himself, who was driving without a driver's license, and his 17-year-old companion, who was sitting in the front passenger seat without using a seat belt, died. The second passenger of the culprit of the collision, a 14-year-old schoolboy, was hospitalized with injuries. He was in the back seat at the time of the incident and was also not wearing a seat belt. The driver and passenger of the second car were injured and, after receiving medical treatment, were sent for outpatient treatment.

The State Traffic Inspectorate called on parents to strictly monitor and prevent, rather than encourage, attempts by children and teenagers to get behind the wheel on their own, as well as to exclude for them the possibility of access to driving cars and motor vehicles without appropriate rights. A driver's license with an open category "M" is required to operate a moped and scooter. You can get it after studying at a driving school from the age of 16. At the same time, it is possible to travel on a moped on public roads only in a motorcycle helmet, provided that you have perfect command of the technique of driving such vehicles.

For driving a moped, scooter, motorcycle, or car without the appropriate license, a fine of 5 to 15 thousand rubles is provided, while the vehicle is delayed and placed in a special parking lot. In addition, the fine for transferring the right to drive a vehicle to a child is 30 thousand rubles. Their parents or legal representatives will be responsible for teenagers under the age of 16 who were driving vehicles.

Parents need to strengthen control over teenagers' leisure time, as well as the availability of vehicles for them, the State Traffic Inspectorate said. It is important to have explanatory conversations with teenagers about the rules of the road and the inadmissibility of driving motor vehicles without a driver's license.

"Do not leave the keys to cars and motor vehicles for children, thereby allowing the possibility of a dangerous trip. Strictly monitor children's leisure time, especially in the evening, to avoid the possibility of accidents involving them. In addition, we remind you that the operation of motorcycles of the "sports equipment" category on public roads — outside specialized trails for motorsport classes and competitions — is strictly prohibited," Police Colonel Anton Belan, deputy head of the Department for road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, told Izvestia.

On July 18, it was reported that following the results of the first half of 2025 in Moscow, the number of accidents related to vehicle collisions decreased by 4.7% compared to the same period last year.
