Szijjarto pointed to the loss of the European Union's strong positions
European leaders have "screwed up" and lost the strong positions of the European Union (EU). This was announced on July 24 by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.
"The EU leadership is extremely weak and [behaves] inappropriately <...> Previously, the European Union was a strong player in world politics and economics. But unfortunately, that's in the past. Why? Because the European leaders screwed up," Szijjarto said on CNN, his speech was posted on the YouTube channel.
According to him, the competitiveness of the European Union is declining sharply.
In addition, Szijjarto stressed that despite Hungary's negative position regarding Ukraine's accession to the EU, Budapest provides humanitarian support to Kiev. He specified that the Hungarian side is the main supplier of electricity to Ukraine.
Earlier, on July 19, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban ruled out adopting an EU budget that would send Hungarian money to Ukraine. According to him, this budget is ruining Hungarian farmers and making the country vulnerable to blackmail.
On June 5, the Italian online publication L'antidipomatico reported that the EU had lost the meaning of its own existence by launching a new arms race in Europe. As the newspaper notes, the European rearmament project, conceived in order to allegedly "contain" Russia, marks the decline of the "culture of law" in favor of a "culture of domination."
