Maxim Egorov, the former governor of the Tambov Region, was detained on suspicion of corruption. This was announced on July 24 by a source of Izvestia.

According to him, the official is suspected of taking bribes from entrepreneurs. It is noted that he did not fulfill his promises, after which the merchants informed the law enforcement agencies about Egorov's crimes.

Egorov served as the head of the region from October 2021 to November 2024.

In April, Alexey Smirnov, the ex-governor of the Kursk region, was detained. Vladimir Lukin, the former director general of the Kursk Region Development Corporation, testified against him, having already been arrested in the case of embezzlement during the construction of fortifications. On the same day, the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow arrested the former head of the Kursk region for two months. Later, on June 6, his detention was extended until September 15. He is accused of embezzling more than 1 billion rubles.
