A specialized base for the protection of Amur tigers will appear in the EAO

A specialized base for hunting surveillance services will be built in the village of Ptichnik on the lake shore in the Eastern Administrative District. The construction site was approved by the Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation Konstantin Chuichenko and the acting governor of the autonomous region Maria Kostyuk. The main goal of the project is to preserve the nature of the Far East and protect Amur tigers, which number about 750 individuals in Russia.

According to IA AmurMedia, the Amur tiger conservation program is being implemented with the support of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The complex will house administrative and garage buildings, a workshop. An armory will also be built there and equipped according to new standards, and the fleet will be updated. The base is planned to be built within a year.

Gosokhotnadzor controls the movement of tigers, ensures the safety of residents in the event that animals enter populated areas, and conducts environmental monitoring. A specialized database should help in this work and improve its quality. The agency, with the support of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, will receive new equipment for specialists, six new vehicles, including off-road vehicles.

The agency writes that in 2013, the number of Amur tigers in Russia was about 430 individuals. Thanks to government support, it has grown to 750. The country holds a leading position in the implementation of programs for the restoration and conservation of the Amur tiger population. Over the past 10 years, seven new protected areas have been created in Russia. This provides protection for about 25% of the tiger's habitat. They are provided with conditions for a comfortable existence, not only in Russia, but also in neighboring countries.
