On July 24, communication with the An-24 passenger plane of Angara Airlines was lost in the Tynda region of the Amur Region. There were passengers on board the aircraft. The charred wreckage of the flight was later found. What is known about the incident is in the Izvestia article.

What is known about the missing flight

The AN-24 of Angara Airlines took off from Khabarovsk Airport at 07:36 local time (00:36 Moscow time). The flight followed the Khabarovsk– Blagoveshchensk–Tynda route.

According to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, about 40 people were on board the plane. At the same time, a source told Izvestia that, previously, there were 48 people there — 38 adults, five children and six crew members.

Loss of communication and search for board

Communication with the board was lost when the aircraft was landing at Tynda airport at about 13:00 local time (07:00 Moscow time). According to the transport Prosecutor's office, contact with the aircraft was lost during the second round.

Rescuers from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, as well as a search and rescue aircraft (AFVS) of the Federal Air Transport Agency, were sent to search for the missing plane. The fuselage of the aircraft was discovered by an Mi-8 helicopter on a mountainside 16 km from Tynda. According to the Amur GZ and PB Center, there was a fire when the plane crashed.

During the flight, no survivors were found at the crash site.

Investigation of the incident

The Tynda Investigation Department for Transport of the Eastern Interregional Investigation Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case on the loss of communication with the aircraft under Part 3 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the rules of traffic safety and operation of the aircraft, resulting in the death of more than three persons").

After the incident, the Tyndinsk and Baikal-Angarsk transport prosecutor's offices are checking compliance with the requirements of flight safety legislation.
