Employees of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia in eight regions detained nine Russians who called for the murders of Russian Armed Forces soldiers. This was reported on July 24 by the FSB's Public Relations Center.

"Nine citizens of the Russian Federation involved in posting calls on social networks and messengers for the murder of Russian servicemen and law enforcement officers, as well as their family members, have been detained," the ministry said.

It is noted that the arrests took place in the Krasnodar Territory, Astrakhan, Vladimir, Murmansk, Omsk, Kherson, Yaroslavl regions and the Jewish Autonomous Region. Phones were seized from the detainees and they were taken into custody.

A criminal case has been opened under Part 2 of Article 205.2 ("Propaganda of terrorism") and Part 2 of Article 280 ("Public calls for extremist activities") The Criminal Code of Russia. According to the FSB, these crimes can result in up to seven years in prison.

Earlier, on July 8, a resident of the Chelyabinsk region was sentenced to 5.5 years for calling for terrorist attacks. He left comments calling for the murder of government officials. The attacker was sentenced to five years and six months in prison to serve his sentence in a penal colony.
