US Secretary of State Marco Rubio influenced President Donald Trump's attitude towards Russia, as well as towards China, Iran and Venezuela. This was reported by The Financial Times (FT) on July 23.

"Rubio not only does not abandon his values, but also defends them, influencing Trump, forcing him to take a tougher stance towards countries such as China, Iran, Russia and Venezuela," the publication said.

According to the newspaper, it is thanks to Rubio's advice that the United States confirms its key role in the foreign policy arena.

As noted by the FT, the US Secretary of State influenced the ideology and strategy of the state in relation to foreign policy.

"Rubio's shape-shifting reflects how America's vision of its place in the world has changed under President Donald Trump. The country, which was the linchpin of the post—war international order, has slipped into isolationism under the slogan "America first", defined by contempt for multilateral institutions and traditional allies," the publication added.

Earlier, on June 25, Rubio pointed out the risk of losing dialogue with Moscow due to the introduction of new sanctions. According to him, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, will reject Europe's requests to strengthen sanctions against Russia because he wants to be able to negotiate a peace agreement.
