Private Petrishchev shot down an Armed Forces drone approaching the positions of the Russian Armed Forces

Guard Private Rafael Petrishchev was at an observation post and was tasked with covering Russian units from attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) from the air when he noticed an approaching unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The Russian Ministry of Defense on Thursday, July 24, told about the exploits of servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the area of a special military operation.

Petrishchev immediately took aim with small arms and shot down the enemy drone, despite the risk of being under artillery fire from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The drone fell into the field, away from the Russian positions, without harming the personnel and equipment of the Russian Armed Forces.

The Ministry of Defense also noted the courage and high professionalism of the guard of Junior Sergeant Philip Ryabykh, who commanded the calculation of the artillery piece. He received information from aerial reconnaissance that two tanks and an infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) of the enemy were approaching the Russian positions.

Despite the large distance to the target, which is almost equal to the maximum possible firing range of the gun, Ryabykh decided to attack. As a result, the AFU tank was destroyed with the second shot, and the infantry fighting vehicles urgently turned around and retreated. The Defense Ministry also noted that within a few days, the Ryabykh crew destroyed, in addition to the tank, a significant number of enemy equipment and personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Earlier, on July 23, the Ministry of Defense reported that Guard Private Sergei Shentsev, as part of an artillery battery, provided fire support to Russian units when the Ukrainian Armed Forces tried to attack under the cover of their artillery and armored vehicles.

Prior to that, on July 22, the department said that Senior Sergeant Dmitry Chernenko was monitoring the airspace in the area of his military operations when he noticed an enemy quadcopter-type unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) approaching Russian positions.
