Hungary has declared its readiness to help resolve conflicts in the Middle East
Hungary is ready to offer its assistance in the peaceful settlement of conflicts in the Middle East. This was announced by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto at the UN Security Council on July 23.
"We are very interested in restoring peace, stability and security to the Middle East region. <...> When it comes to the peaceful settlement of conflicts in the Middle East, when it comes to restoring the right of all residents of the region to live without the threat of daily bombings and terrorist attacks, you can count on Hungary," Szijjarto said.
He noted that Hungary supports the establishment of a ceasefire in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the conclusion of a deal on the release of hostages in Israel, condemns the massacres in Syria directed against members of the Christian community and welcomes the negotiations between the Vatican and Israel aimed at ensuring a sustainable supply of food and medicine to the Christian community in Gaza.
Earlier, on July 17, Qatar, Egypt and the United States submitted an updated proposal to Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement to resolve the situation in the Gaza Strip.
On July 6, it was reported that serious negotiations to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip would begin on the first day of the truce. It is noted that additional negotiations may be needed to discuss the details of the withdrawal of the Israeli army from the Palestinian enclave during the negotiations, as well as the release of prisoners from Israel in exchange for hostages held by Hamas.
