Russian forces are demoralizing the Ukrainian army, and it has no chance of launching a new offensive. This opinion was expressed by Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense Yuri Shvytkin on Wednesday, July 23.

Earlier, the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian army, Alexander Syrsky, said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) may try to go on the offensive again in the event of an expansion of military assistance to Kiev from the allies, according to the website. kp.ru . At the same time, he acknowledged that Kiev is suffering from a shortage of air defense systems, armored vehicles and artillery shells. The general refused to answer the question about the presence of ATACMS missiles in the reserve of the Ukrainian army, IA Regnum reports.

"The possibility of counterattacks in some sectors of the front may increase, but our units are successfully repelling them, capturing new frontiers. This will appropriately demoralize the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who, being on the line of contact, see firsthand the defeat and collapse that are currently pursuing the Ukrainian army," Shvytkin said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .

The parliamentarian stressed that no amount of assistance and material support from Ukraine will affect the combat potential and morale of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On July 14, at a meeting at the White House with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, US President Donald Trump said that the United States and the European Union had reached an agreement on the supply of weapons to Ukraine. The American leader stressed that the weapons will be manufactured in the United States, but they will be paid for by European countries.

In addition, Trump announced that Washington was considering the possibility of transferring 17 Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems to Kiev. He noted that the weapons will be supplied by the EU states, and the United States will replenish their arsenals.

On July 21, Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans noted that the country would contribute to the initiative to supply American Patriot systems to Ukraine. He also said that the Netherlands would increase its support for the transfer of ammunition for the F-16 and other weapons to strengthen air defense.
